Dear colleagues,
There is some limited funding available to send a few more delegates to
a climate finance workshop in Addis Ababa taking place from 4-5
November. I think that this would be valuable for those who are
interested in accessing climate finance, whether as a direct access
entity to the GCF or through other mechanisms. Those interested or
wanting to find out more can contact Alex Benkenstein from SAIIA
directly at alex.benkenstein@saiia.org.za. More details are below and
attached.
"We would appreciate it if you could join us for a workshop over 4-5
November 2019 (day and a half) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. We are hosting
this workshop in partnership with the Konrad Andenauer Stiftung's
Regional Programme on Energy Security and Climate Change in Sub-Saharan
Africa. The focus is on facilitating access to climate finance, a
discussion around available resources, tools, modalities, etc to ensure
that climate finance reaches the areas where it is needed most. We want
to bring together a small group (30-35) of practitioners, policy
stakeholders and researchers to try to drive the conversation forward
ahead of Chile. We already have confirmed participation by UNECA's
Africa Climate Policy Centre and the AfDB.
I realize that this is a busy time for people working on climate-related
issues and November is around the corner, so please do let us know as
soon as possible whether you are available. We will cover costs of
participation. I would also like to have a discussion around additional
people that you feel we may want to involve, or alternatively you could
simply email me any suggestions you may have."
Kind regards,
Ruan
