
PhD in Rural Development and Extension
Prior to joining LUANAR in 2015, Paul Fatch was the Principal Agricultural Training Officer for the Ministry of Agriculture. He developed guidelines for extension approaches, methods and tools such as lead farmer, harmonized demonstrations, harmonized programming, farmer’s field school, and developed training manuals for extension staff and farmers in Malawi, resulting in 21 major official documents. He has published four journal articles in his research focus areas of extension, agriculture policy, crop science, animal science and nutrition. He has contributed to the extension profession in Africa through his roles as the Vice Chairperson of the African Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (AFAAS), and Secretary General of the Malawi Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (MaFAAS).
Dr Paul Fatch is a Lecturer in Extension and Rural Development at the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR).
