REQUEST FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST: Engagement of a Consultancy Firm to Provide Data Management and Analysis training for Scientists in Angola and Lesotho.

The Centre for Coordination of Agricultural Research and Development for Southern Africa (CCARDESA) has received financing from the World Bank toward cost of the facilitation of the implementation of the Agricultural Productivity Programe for Southern Africa (APPSA) and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consulting services in Provision of Data Management and Analysis Training for Scientists in Lesotho and Angola. The consulting firm is required to prepare training materials and conduct a 10-day physical training workshop for Scientists from Angola and Lesotho to build their capacity in Data Management and Statistical Analysis using Portuguese in Angola and English in Lesotho. Each country is allocated 5 days of the physical workshop.
The objective of the assignment is to help Scientists under APPSA Angola and Lesotho develop competence in qualitative and quantitative techniques through hands-on practices in study design, data collection, and management, as well as the analysis and interpretation of data.
The Centre for Coordination of Agricultural Research and Development for Southern Africa (CCARDESA) now invites eligible consulting firms to indicate their interest in providing the Services. Interested Firms should provide information demonstrating that they have the required experts with required qualifications and relevant experience to perform the Services.
The shortlisting criteria are:
QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE OF THE CONSULTANT FIRM
a) The firm is expected to have at least 15 years of continuous experience in offering training in Data Management and Statistical Analysis.
b) Key Staff Qualifications and Experience.
The consulting firm should have experts with the following qualifications and experience:
i) At least a Master’s degree in Biometry, Statistics, Agricultural Sciences or any other related qualification (PhD. will be an added advantage);
ii) Minimum 10 years’ experience in offering training in data management and statistical analysis; and
iii) Minimum 5 years’ experience with R, SPSS, GenStat and Stata.
iv) Experience in offering similar training in English and Portuguese will be an added advantage
The attention of interested Consultants is drawn to paragraph 1.9 of the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits & Grants by World Bank Borrowers (“Consultant Guidelines”), setting forth the World Bank’s policy on conflict of interest.
